The purpose of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who served. They do this by enhancing the lives of veterans, military, and their families, both home and abroad. The ALA administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs as well as other charities. Even though The ALA is a branch of the Legion Family, they are not a program of The American Legion. They are their own entity and hold their own charter with Congress.
